Prep4CNA — Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Prep4CNA mobile app, available on iOS and Android, and applies to everyone who installs it. It does not cover any other app, website, or service.

2.1 — Stored only on your device

As you use the app, your answers to quiz questions, your accuracy, and your daily streak are saved in local storage on your phone. This information never leaves your device unless you choose to join the leaderboard (see 2.3).

2.2 — An anonymous device identifier

The app assigns your device a random, anonymous identifier (via Firebase Anonymous Authentication) the first time it needs one. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information, and there is no sign-in screen — it happens automatically in the background. It exists so that, if you join the leaderboard, your device can update its own score without anyone else being able to update it for you.

2.3 — Information you choose to share: the leaderboard

Joining the leaderboard is optional and requires one deliberate action: picking a nickname. If you do, the following becomes visible to anyone using the app:

Your individual quiz answers, which questions you got right or wrong, and your device identifier are never shown on the leaderboard — only the aggregate numbers above.

2.4 — Basic usage analytics

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand, in aggregate, how the app is actually used — which screens people visit, how long a typical session lasts, and which features get used most. This happens automatically for every install; there's currently no in-app toggle to turn it off. It's tied to an anonymous per-install identifier, separate from the one described in Section 2.2, and is never linked to a name, email, or any other information that could identify you.

This analytics collection does not include an advertising identifier (Apple's IDFA or Google's Advertising ID) — we've specifically configured it not to. No ads are shown in the app, and this data is not used for advertising, ad personalization, or shared onward with anyone for their own purposes.

The app does not collect, request, or have access to:

• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Your location
• Your contacts, photos, camera, or microphone
• Advertising identifiers (Apple's IDFA or Google's Advertising ID) — we've specifically turned this off, and the app shows no advertising
• Crash logs or diagnostic data

We do collect basic, anonymous usage analytics — see Section 2.4 for exactly what that includes and why it's separate from everything else on this list.

The limited information described in Section 2 is used only to:

• Save your quiz progress and streak between sessions, on your own device
• Show quiz content (questions, categories, app text) that stays current without needing an app update
• Display leaderboard rankings, only for people who've opted in
• Show a required-update notice if a critical fix is ever released
• Understand overall app usage (Section 2.4), so we know what's working and what to fix or improve next

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. The app's content, optional leaderboard, and usage analytics (Section 2.4) all run on Google Firebase, which acts as our infrastructure provider — the same way a filing cabinet stores paper without reading it. Firebase's own privacy terms are available at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

• Clear your local progress any time from Profile → Reset Progress. This immediately and permanently erases your saved answers and streak from your device.
• Leave the leaderboard off entirely by simply never setting a nickname — nothing about your device is ever shared publicly.
• Request removal of your leaderboard entry by contacting us (Section 11) with your nickname. We'll remove it.

Local progress is retained on your device until you reset it or uninstall the app. Leaderboard entries are retained until you request removal (Section 6) or the leaderboard feature is discontinued.

Prep4CNA is designed for adults preparing for professional exam prep and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Leaderboard data is protected by access rules that only allow a device to write its own entry, verified through the anonymous identifier described in Section 2.2 — no one can edit or impersonate another person's score. Quiz content is readable by the app but not editable by it. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we don't collect anything more sensitive than a self-chosen nickname and a score.

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. If a future change meaningfully expands what we collect, we'll also note it in the app's release notes.
